19th November 2012 – RED-BREASTED GOOSE with the Barnies…

Not content with finding a Richardson’s Canada Goose a few weeks back, Col went out and found a stunning Red-breasted Goose at Whitrigg last Friday (16th Nov). Unfortunately I was at work all day on the Friday and Saturday, and these were the only two days that the bird showed well. As it was my day off yesterday I was hoping to see the bird, however I was very frustrated to see that all the Barnies were incredibly distant on the far side of the Wampool, and not by the roadside like the previous two days. Bugger. Anyway, let’s hope this beauty stays around for the winter and shows well again – preferably on the Cumbrian side this time though please!….

Many thanks to Andrew Kinghorn for letting me use this shot which was taken on Saturday. Check out his blog at: http://andrewkinghorn.blogspot.co.uk/
