8th October 2012 – Skies full of Pinks…

Over the last 2 or 3 weeks or so there have been some large skeins of Pink-footed Geese flying directly over the house every day. At the moment we seem to be on their flightpath as they leave their roost on the Solway, and then again in the evening when they return. However we have also noticed that even during the day there are lots of Pinks on the move, heading both north and south. With the windows open in the lounge we hear them long before we see them – this is a little unusual to have so many Pinks lingering at this time of the year, usually they just pass through and don’t return until the new year.
