I was keen to do a bit of birding/photography today so after a morning of chores I managed to escape this afternoon for a couple of hours. First stop was my Kingfishers, and both birds showed well, but again it was the female that was the most confiding.
At least three Common Sandpipers were present as was a cracking White Wagtail, whilst winter leftovers included several thousand Barnacle Geese still residing on Rockcliffe Marsh and an adult Whooper Swan in with the Mutes. A pair of Gadwall and a pair of Shoveler on the river were both unusual. Nowt much else really, maybe tomorrow….
