2nd January 2012 – Goosefest!

Despite the bitterly cold wind a couple of hours out birding in the Abbeytown area was extremely worthwhile today. There was a few Bewick’s Swans amongst the Whoopers – here’s one of them….

And close scrutiny of the Pink-footed Geese revealed good numbers of other grey geese, including 40+ European White-fronts….

There was also 8 Greenland White-fronted Geese and quite a few Greylags…

Meanwhile at nearby Blackdyke, there was still c24 Tundra Bean Geese in the field opposite ‘Montgomerie Feeds’…
