8th October 2011 – Dowitcher in the gloom

I did the patch again this morning and failed to find anything out of the ordinary – I can’t understand why it has been so disappointing on the Solway this autumn, especially considering how many waders are out there and how many yank waders have been discovered in Britain. So a short hop over the border was needed this afternoon to see the juvenile Long-billed Dowitcher at Caerlaverock WWT. As usual, the glorious sunshine of yesterday had vanished for my day off, leaving a frustratingly gloomy, dull, and wet day.
