23rd August 2011 – 1st juv Curlew Sands arrive…

The wader numbers have been fluctuating recently, largely due to human disturbance, making for several disappointing visits. Over the last couple of days things have picked up a bit with the first juvenile Sanderlings (3), and juvenile Curlew Sandpipers arriving (maximum of 8 today).

Up to 7 Blackwits and 3 Barwits have been present along with double figure counts of Knot and adult Sanderling. A Wheatear was on the mud today…

The Little Egret is still knocking about in the harbour but remains mostly distant…
