7th August 2011 – at long last, a Little Egret…

Well what a miserable day, rain, rain, rain and more rain. Sat at home in the dry I’d convinced myself there would be a rarity strolling around on the mudflats. So I just had to get out there and check just in case there was. And guess what? There wasn’t. Or if there was I couldn’t find it. But I did get a year tick, a Little Egret. Embarrassing eh? Equally embarrassing was my pathetic effort at getting a pic of it…

There was over 30 of these…

a couple of these…

3 of these…

3 of these were new in…

And as usual at this time of the year several Goosanders were in the area…

And I got completely eaten alive by midgies, and soaked. Nice. And I’ve just found out there was an adult Spotted Redshank on the scrape at Campfield. Bugger.
