3rd June 2011 – Marsh Fritillaries

With superb weather conditions today, a family walk  seemed like a good idea. Just a 10 minute drive from my home lies Finglandrigg Wood NR, home to a recent reintroduction of the Marsh Fritillary butterfly. Perfect. And whilst we were enjoying the butterflies a calling Quail was heard too, a nice bonus.

Four-spotted Chasers were numerous…

and a Grey Partridge posed for a couple of photographs.
