6th November 2010 – Waxwings at Dalston

The current Waxwing invasion across the UK has reached Cumbria, with the flocks in Dalston being the nearest birds to me. After a week of work, heavy rain and leaden skies it was nice to wake up to a crisp blue sky this morning and this tempted me to head over. I’m glad I did as I was treated to fantastic views of these colourful winter visitors as they munched on the berries around the village, although the local Blackbirds and Mistle Thrushes were less than happy with their appearance.
