This beautiful juvenile Red-necked Phalarope was frequenting the muddy bank of the River Eden just north of Carr Beds early this evening and showing down to a few metres. Only my 2nd in Cumbria, and congratulations to Nick Franklin for finding it on his patch. The bad news was that it was almost certainly taken by a Sparrowhawk late afternoon on the 16th.
