The only benefit of working backshifts until gone midnight is that I can sometimes squeeze in a bit of birding in the mornings. Just ten minutes from home and I was listening to a gropper reeling distantly and then a Redstart, which as usual was singing from the tallest trees.
And then about 3/4 mile further on a second bird was found.
With more time (which I don’t have!) I’m sure I could get better shots. Elsewhere another gropper was heard today and several Common Whitethroats are back too.
